JOHN 19: 28”…I am thirsty.” When the apostles are arguing about who is going to sit at Jesus right hand in the Kingdom, Jesus said, “Are you prepared to drink the cup that I must drink?” The cup that Jesus referred to was the “cup of suffering.” We talk about soldier’s “baptism of fire.” Jesus “hungered and thirsted after righteousness.” When Jesus said, “I thirst” the worst was over. His mouth, parched and dry, he needed moisture to make one more final announcement. His thirst to do the will of God was finally met as he breathed his last on the cross. What do we thirst for? Fame, power, wealth? Our thirst should be for a relationship with Jesus Christ. Amen
